Kahn the Cat has Died

Kahn the Cat has Died

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I must announce the death of Kahn the Cat. Kahn died from a blood clot early this morning, just four days away from his one-year hospitalization anniversary. He almost died on August 18, 2014, but the amazing people at the Oregon State University Veterinary Hospital saved his life. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure at the time and given 4-12 months to live. Kahn passed away on August 14, 2015 at 3:30am. Kahn had many projects in the works at the time of his death and those projects will be completed. Stay tuned for more...
Three Month Anniversary of Hospitalization

Three Month Anniversary of Hospitalization

Exactly three months ago today I nearly died after heart failure. Many say it was a miracle I lived. But I am  a miracle-maker, so I am not surprised. At the time of my hospitalization, which began on August 18, 2014, I was given a diagnosis of 4-12 months to live. I aced my one month checkup in September and plan on living beyond my diagnosis. After all, I am KAHN the Cat. I need to be here to lead my followers to a great victory as I rule the world. Naturally, you are wondering what I did to celebrate my three month anniversary. The answer is that I slept 17 hours instead of my usual 14 hours. It was one nice nap! Here’s a picture: Now it is important to know why I nap. My naps give me the energy needed to take more naps in order to prepare to rule the world . Becoming a world leader is a very strenuous and active task. I am only four years old. Dying at the age of five is not an option for me. But I know I have put a lot of financial strain on my handlers because of the vet bills, daily medications, and desire to make me comfortable. That is why I wrote the Yes We Kahn book – to help out. Check out the book or, if you want to donate to my medical bills, click the Donate button to the right.   Keep in mind that my handlers are human. I try not to hold it against them. But because of their defect, I am the one that has to do all the hard work… after my naps, of...

Kahn’s Korner – Dirty Water Bowl

Kahn’s Korner – Dirty Water Bowl

(Kahn’s Korner) Today’s question comes from Iggy from San Diego, California. Iggy’s Question: Meow?My water bowl is not kept clean to my meticulous standards. How can I get my owners to wash it out on a regular basis? ~ Iggy Kahn’s Answer: First things first, Iggy. The humans that are failing you do not “own” you. The reality is that you are in charge. This is a fact that you must consistently remind them of. Although most human handlers want to do anything to please us felines, sometime their ignorance and laziness leaves them woefully inadequate in many ways. When humans become oblivious to your needs, then you must GAME them. What is GAME? 1) Get their attention. 2) Act out. 3) Manipulate the situation. 4) Enjoy the rewards. In the case of old, stale water, here is what you must do. First, find a plush cat toy, a used cotton swab, or a piece of clothing and place it into your water bowl. (Bonus if the item contains a dye that turns the water a color. Try for red, as it is the color of “urgency.”) Next, stand at the water bowl and meow. When the humans come to investigate the noise, make sure to look back and forth between them and the bowl with a pitiful face. Upon seeing the item in the water bowl, they should feel obligated to clean it out for you. If your human handlers are a bit dense, you may have to escalate the situation by dumping your dry food into your water bowl. Eventually, you will be rewarded with fresh water in a clean bowl. Remember, Iggy – they don’t “own” you. Humans are blessed when in...

Video of the Week – Cats vs. Zombies

Happy Halloween! This is my favorite time of the year because I get to watch humans put on ridiculous outfits and beg for food. Today’s video of the week is really important to understand. It is called “Cats vs Zombies – Batteries.” Now there are two handlers in this video. One is the hero and the other is the villain. It’s always important to have hero handlers like the female in this video who will do everything humanly possible to accommodate your needs. Be sure to give handlers like this lots of rewards, like affection, to train them to continue to stick up for your rights. On the other side is the villain – the male in this video. All he cares about is himself. But there are ways you can get even when you have a handler like this. You can cough up a hairball in his shoe, drag his tie into the litter box, or rub hair on his suit just before he goes to a big presentation. As it is Halloween, I should speak up about that Halloween video my handlers made. I just want to make it clear that I had nothing to do with that video. In fact, while they were creating it I was busy napping in order to prepare for my quest to take over the...

Video – Can Kahn the Cat Save Halloween?

This video we created features our Kahn the Cat in a short Halloween story. It all started on a dark and stormy night. Creatures, ghosts, and scary pumpkins were keeping trick or treaters away. Especially scary was the house that was haunted by a vampire looking for a treat of his own. Can Kahn the Cat save the day or will be become the vampire’s next...
National Cat Day Should Be Every Day

National Cat Day Should Be Every Day

There is something seriously wrong with limiting the celebration of cat-dom to one day. Let me explain why every day should be a celebration of all things feline. Humans love us more. This is proven by the fact that there are approximately 96 million of us cats live with humans in the United States. Only about 80 million dogs are “owned” by humans. Do you see my point? Sorry, dogs! Cats are smart enough to run government. For example, a cat named Stubbs was mayor of an Alaskan city for 17 years. Mayor Stubbs, I thank you for elevating the standing of cats everywhere. We land on our feet. In addition, cats rule YouTube and the hearts of viewers. According to an AdAge article titled, “10 Stats that will change the way you look at video:” “We looked at the 100 most-watched clips for both furry friends and aggregated their performance. Cat videos have generated over 1.6 billion views. Dog videos have only generated 1 billion views. Cats win on a daily basis as well, with the top 100 videos generating about 1 million views per day. The top 100 dog videos produce 700,000 views on average.” If 1 million people are watching us on YouTube every day (self plug – subscribe to my YouTube channel) then they should be celebrating us every day too. Not convinced yet? How about a reputable study that showed that Cats Control Humans? That’s right. We have a certain Jedi-mind trick sound we make that elicits a desired response in humans. We know how to press our handlers buttons. With that in mind, pay close attention humans: “Every Day is National...

Blog of the Week – Cat Chat with Caren and Cody

Blog of the Week – Cat Chat with Caren and Cody

My blog of the week is Cat Chat with Caren and Cody. This blog is co-written by a blue tabby named Cody and his handler, Caren. They have just celebrated their 5th year of blogging. Cat Chat features stories about cat health issues and rescue group events. It also includes reviews on books and cat-related products, along with giveaways that readers can enter. Cody is a fan of professional football, especially the Detroit Lions. I like this. Football is a sport requiring strategy and brute force, both of which I agree with. (I occasionally watch the NFL, but I prefer the excitement of college football. I support the Oregon Ducks, because one of my handlers graduated from the U of O, and the Oregon State Beavers, because their veterinary hospital saved my life.) Cody and Caren also talk about cat rescue organizations. I was a rescue cat, so I can appreciate that they are promoting taking cats out of bad situations. The goal of Cat Chat with Caren and Cody is for the blog to be “a warm, cozy, inviting place for cat lovers from all over the world.” It makes me want to curl up by a fire with some cat nip and wet food. I heartily encourage you to visit Cody’s website. It has useful pet information, product giveaways, and an outstanding cat named Cody. The site was done in honor and memory of Caren’s former cat,...
